DEPTH

DEPTH

Jesus calls us to follow Him. From the moment we repent and believe in Jesus Christ a new life begins. It’s called Discipleship. A journey of faith, obedience, discovery, challenge and change. Matthew 28:19-20 says “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” NIV (emphasis added) The first Christians we actually called people of “The Way” before being known as ‘little Christs” (the meaning of ‘Christian’). Much of the New Testament explains and teaches us about following the resurrected Jesus – about who we are, how to live and what we are to do with our new life. Ephesians is a prime example – in particular read Ephesians 4:1-16. DEPTH is a course run by Chipping Campden Baptist Church, beginning in September 2010 and running until 2011. Part of CCBC’s vision is to raise up committed growing disciples; to help you grow and mature as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Our plan is that this course will not be a one-off but run again in the future. DEPTH stands for

Discipleship
Equipping
Practice
Training
Holiness

Reading Schedule 2010-2011

Reading

An essential part of Depth is to read the course books over the coming year.

Click here for the reading schedule.

At first glance the reading list could look a little daunting! However, spread over a month it shouldn’t be too much.

* Celebration of DisciplineI encourage you to read each chapter first and as soon as possible each month with the aim of beginning to practice, implement and reflect on it over the weeks before we meet again to discuss it. Essentially this book encourages you to be practical so the more time you give to each discipline the better.

Our group time on either Saturday or Wednesday will be split into 3 x 1 hour blocks.

1.      Worship, Prayer and Reflecting on Celebration of Discipline (see above)

2.      Some review/explanation of the major reading themes coming up in Know the Truth and Bible Study in Ephesians

3.      Some teaching on a different theme/topic (e.g. Kingdom of God etc.)
